Charles & Keith add another feather in their cap


Charles & Keith an established brand owner of Singapore for women’s footwear and accessories has made another private residential purchase in the Chatsworth area. The Chatsworth area is renowned for being a private GCB (Good Class Bungalow) enclave in Singapore.  The family made the purchase of the same on 6th June 2017.  Nearly 15 bungalows have been sold in these areas so far since January.

The bungalow which sits along Chatsworth Road was purchased by Ms Low Lay Eng, who is also believed to be the mother of the group’s founders. Ms Low is also a shareholder in the company. The purchase was made at S$20 mils, which translates to S$1,503psf. The land area of the GCB is about 13,300 sq ft.


This purchase at GCB is the second purchase of the brothers after they made purchase of a bungalow last year in Mount Echo Park area. That bungalow was bought at S$22.25 mils, which turns out to S$1,322 psf on land area of 16,826 sq ft.


The Good Glass Bungalows are considered as the most prestigious landed housing in Singapore as they have a minimum land size of 15,070 sq ft. They are very luxurious and is very exclusive since only a small amount of people in Singapore stay in GCB (only 5.5% of our population resides in landed houses). The only constraint with the property is that only Singapore citizens can make a purchase in the area as per the policy of 2012, which makes it even rarer.


Generally in Singapore, only Singapore Citizens are given the privilege to purchase landed homes and this included strata landed homes built within a Singapore condo development. Singapore Permanent Residents who are interested in Strata / Landed homes will have to seek for approval from the Land Dealings Approval Unit (LDAU) before making nay purchase. The only exception for no citizen to own a landed properties will be at Sentosa Cove. The landed houses at Sentosa Cove are open to everyone including Singapore Permanent Residents and Foreigners
